About

— It is hard to label yourself as just one thing, especially when your specialty is to come up with ideas every day.

Black and White picture of Ana Karina

Ana Karina is an award-winning Associate Creative Director in advertising based in Chicago. With over 13 years of experience working for 500 top Fortune brands and earning 30+ awards in creativity, Ana Karina decided to write and illustrate "Emma’s Dream," a bilingual book that encourages kids to not forget their dreams. Ana toured her book and workshop in six different countries, reaching almost 1000 kids through reading, singing, and interacting with them about their passions. This experience proved that story time, comedy, and psychological principles can be powerful tools for their self-esteem and development.

Ana Karina began her copywriting career in Venezuela. After two years at DDB Caracas, she moved to Chicago to refine her copywriting craft at the Chicago Portfolio School. Upon graduating, she secured an internship at her dream agency, Lapiz-Leo Burnett, the headquarters of one of the most important ad agencies globally. Quickly showcasing her talent, Ana won five awards as an intern and climbed her way up, creating various integrated campaigns spanning social, traditional, OOH, activations, launches, openings, rebranding, digital, content, and branded experiences for a broad range of industries.

In 2017, Ana and her team created the "Tequila Cloud" to promote the Mexico Tourism Board in Germany. The innovative idea went viral, generating half a billion impressions with just a 60k media buy. The Tequila Cloud not only brought science and art together but also earned a silver Cannes Lions and the most impressions for a campaign ever garnered by the agency and the client.

Before that, she developed campaigns for Disney, Kraft, Lunchables, Kool-Aid, Capri Sun, and USTA, contributing to winning the Olive Garden business at Mcgarrybowen.

Later, Ana brought her creativity and expanded her business experience at fluent360, a multicultural agency with clients like the US Army, Nissan, INFINITI, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Spectrum. She pushed creative boundaries, emphasizing that good work can happen no matter the assignment. Ana also played a key role in leading the social media team, bringing strategy and creativity to revamp the agency’s presence across platforms.

Ana's creativity extended beyond the agency with the creation of Closet Therapy, a fashion account that helped her find herself through fashion. On Instagram and YouTube, Ana created episodes to guide her audience in shopping from their closets, spreading the message of being conscious about their possessions. She took her passion project to events like the Latin Grammys, Premios Tu Mundo, Cannes Lions Festival, and Vogue’s Forces of Fashion, interviewing celebrities such as J Balvin, Steve Aoki, Global Editor for Vogue Hamish Bowles, Wyclef Jean, and Refinery 21 co-founder Piera Gelardi.

Ana collaborated with Rebecca Minkoff, Buchanan’s, Tao, Verizon, and Schwarzkopf, among others. She even launched a limited shoe collection in one of the most prestigious stores in Lima, Peru. Ana Karina utilized her marketing acumen to bring her ideas to life, pushing the boundaries of what can be done.

After four years as a fashion blogger, Ana transitioned to comedy writing classes at Second City and Improv Olympics. She wrote two TV pilots and organized a table read with Hollywood directors and actors. Following consistent social media presence, events, dinners, and fashion shows, Ana happily let go of the fashion blogging phase to explore new endeavors.

In 2022, Ana embarked on a new chapter at Doner as an Associate Creative Director for Johnson & Johnson, Zyrtec, McDonald’s, Pepcid, and Tylenol. In March 2022, she launched her first children’s book in Chicago and toured elementary schools in different cities in Europe, Mexico, and the US. Ana also played a pivotal role in bringing two new businesses to the agency: Aveeno and Neutrogena.

“If you’re looking for someone who is passionate about work. Someone who is always looking for every opportunity (no matter how small) to sell an outstanding idea – then you must be looking for Ana. I had the pleasure to be her manager and I was always delighted with her eagerness to pursue great ideas in every job— even in those smaller briefs where few would see any potential. She is talented, collaborative and fun to work with. I am looking forward to having another opportunity to work with her in the future. In short, if you were looking for the perfect candidate, you have just found her.”
— Executive Creative Director at AKQA Portland
Ana is a true strategists’ creative. Her ability to drive to the heart of the problem and human insight meant her creative ideas were always on-point and beautifully written solutions. She’s deeply curious and adventurous, whether learning the foundations of being an entrepreneur or testing the boundaries of a creative campaign with conservative clients.

Working with Ana will force you to “up” your own game. Creatively pushing further, rigorously and diligently means her ideas will almost always make you go, “wow, I wish I’d have thought of that!”

Ana’s a joy to partner with- a creative force behind the curtain and a dazzling presenter when on center stage.
